They are tougher to KILL than to keep alive! They are as durable as they are ugly .
Seriously though, a few inches of water, a clump of sea weed, and a few, occasional added ice cubes should have them cool, slimy and happy through out the day.
I had a friend forget about a few eels in 1" of water in a bucket on his front porch for 2 days this past summer. They lived for that short amount of time even in the sun and without any of the above suggestions.
Too bad pogies are not as easy...................
