As for headlong rushes; I have seen 3 poles go off the rocks, 1 go off sand, and one off a boat and it truly impressed me how fast they went.
What amazed me even more is that I caught one of the poles a few minutes later and hauled up a wet pole with only a 20-22" striper attached. The way the pole flew out of the rocks I would have thought at least 20 pounds, much less 20 inches.
