Thought I'd spend an hour today kayaking in one of my favorite coves in the Marion-Wareham area. As I went around a small point, I noticed that the grass seemed to be moving. After a few seconds I realized I was looking at a fairly large, reddish-brown coyote. Even more surprising was that he was followed by not one, not two, but three more! The four of them checked me out a little, loped along the beach, and disappeared through the marshgrass into the woods. My guess is that they were hunting some of the ducks that have moved into the cove. What an amazing, surprising, and beautiful sight.
Although I picked up two small fish, my side of the bay seems absolutely devoid of fish.
