I know there was a thread on this subject awhile back and I don't mean to try
and start that up all over again. But I thought some of you maybe interested.
During a recent business trip I pick up a few magazines to read on the flights,
one being the December issue of Fly Fisherman. In it is an article under the
same name as the subject. It is written by James H. Phillips, who is a member of
the ASMFC Bluefish Sportfishing Advisory Board. He describes two simplified
population models using 100 18 inch fish entering the fisheries each year. One
population is fished the other unfished. He tries to show the effect of natural
mortality on one group's size and the effect of both natural and fishing
mortality on the other group's size. I found it an interesting article.
