Re: Barnstable Harbor 10/3

I had been wondering how Barn. Hbr. was doing lately. Now I know. From now to the
end of the season is usually a "gimme" there. Unfortunately, BH was mostly a
disappointment for lure and fly fishing this past spring; I caught fish but had
to work very hard for them. Brewster Flats (anyone been there lately?) was a better
bay side location for most of the season.

Back to BH, that channel coming out of the marina past Blish Point and especially the part
about 100 yds out curving to the right holds a lot of fish, particularly before the
boat traffic heats up from the marina. Blues seem to hole up
there late into the season and of course the bass are in just about every deeper spot.
Shore fishermen should also not ignore high tide at any of the BH access points this month.
I've seen frequent blitzes right up against the sea grass, even in shallow water. Dawn
and dusk are best, but I've seen this happen at midday.

Headed to Race Point tonite, a long drive and walk but well worth it for a good
chance to catch keeper bass and big blues on plugs and flies. Sunday morning will
be a tough choice between Barn. Hbr. and the Canal. Flip a coin?
