Norm Hursh and I fished the Canal Sat morning from about 6:30 am to just past noon. As we launched from the Bourne Marina and headed down the Bay towards the Canal, there were schoolies working bait to the right. We had some success behind the first rockpile , then proceeded to fish the flat off the academy with some success. Headed next to Mashnee Flats where we got into some larger fish in the 20-27 inch range. Fished several Cans in the Canal also with success. Fished off the academy ship hull on the incoming tide later in the morning and Norm got his taste of volume striper fishing. It wasn't a super fish, but we had no difficulty picking up stripers pretty much wherever we went. Still plenty of bait in the water. If the warm weather holds, we should have continued good fishing in the Canal and adjacent waters for several weeks more.
