I've used a 17' Old Town canoe (composite material) on Joppa Flats with an electric trolling motor, clamp-on rod holder and clamp-on, battery operated running and stern lights. No good in a stiff wind or a ripping tide, but it glides like a ghost on fogg

y mornings or calm nights. Trolling stick baits, or streamers ala landlock salmon with a sweeping pull now and then seems to work. I have a wooden canoe chair thingy that puts me low in the center of gravity if the breeze kicks up. Also not a bad way t

o drop down-tide in tidal creeks. Definitely wear the life jacket and carry an anchor and an air-horn/ whistle.
