I love fishing from my kayak. It lets you do two enjoyable things at once.
A clouser trolled at a moderate pace works almost all the time, on bass and blues.
It doesn't matter if you use a sinking or floating line, because the speed
of the boat keeps the fly way up. I use a Rascal, from Wilderness Systems,
which I bought from Billington Sea Boats in Plymouth. It is relatively fast
impossible to flip, tracks well, and very comfortable. 9 1/2 feet, 40 lbs, $350 or so.
I have bungee cords which I use to secure my rod while trolling. I have yet
to rig up something for my paddle, but a friend of mine uses a length of pipe
insulation, sliced along the top, secured to the hull. This allows him to
just stick the paddle into the holder whenever he wants.
