I've heard that people have had good success probing the marshy areas of Duxbury
Bay with canoes (like the area in back of the Powder Point Bridge). Seems like
calmer parts of Plymouth Bay and upstream sections of the North River would
also be good bets. Just about any protected estuary or bay with tough walk-in or drive-in
access seems like a good candidate.

Don't think I'll be buying a kayak soon, but I may finally have a reason
for dusting off my old canoe next season.
