Boston Harbor

Praise the Lord and pass the coffee, after 5 years of no bait to speak of in July in the Harbor, we’ve got…(drum roll please)…pogies!

Now those of you that follow this column and the general discussion on the RT New England Forum have heard me complain about lack of pogies for sometime.  It used to be that the harbor was virtually paved with those oily little bass morsels for July and August every year, and that in turn helped to keep the bass in.  Will it to do the trick this year?  Only time will tell.

Mark N. Cahill has been writing and editing for Reel-Time.com since 1995. He started fishing in the mid-1960's and caught his first striper off World's End in Hingham in 1966. From there on in it was an obsession. He loves fishing for tuna, and fly fishing for striped bass. In a pinch, anything with fins will do...
