I took advantage of some decent weather to fish around Monomoy. It is apparent from the picture that navigating the new cut can be tricky. Early morning parking at some ramps should be easier now that the commercial bass season has ended. There was not much for bass being caught in the area where I fished which explains why the fleet was elsewhere that day.
Canal
The big news hear was the sailfish caught in the canal
Otherwise there are still macks moving in an out of the canal. Jig one up and live line it.
South Side
Plenty of bluefish being had in the rips. I noticed some nice bluefish recipes on the Reel-Time forum site. We are into August and attention is now turning towards the little tuniods. Have not heard of anything north of the islands and only a smattering of bonito at the Hooter. Not worth it for me to head that distance in my boat.
Monomoy
Based on my experience and a friends, if you want to see bass in and around the flats, get there early before boat traffic picks up.
North Side
Barnstable Harbor and environs continue to fish slow. There are fish to be found along Sandy Neck but it is not a sure thing.
